To give you a little information on who we are, before you go explore our own pages, our family consists of the three of us, Robert, Cathy, and Ashley. We live in northeastern Pennsylvania. We like to travel, hike, hunt, and camp. We also enjoy watching car races, 4x4 races, and demolition derbies.
Our Eddy Family Roots
The following information is from the Eddy Family Associtation, Inc., the Bradford County Historical Society, family, and friends. We thank them for all of their hard work.
Our Eddy Family lineage is as follows: William Eddye, Samuel, Obadiah, Jabez, Jabez, John, Jacob, Jacob, Robert, Robert, and Alec.
William Eddye was born circa 1560 at Bristol, Gloucestershire, England. He married Mary Fosten, daughter of John Fosten and Ellen Munn, on November 20, 1587 at Cranbrook, Kent, England. He married Mrs. (Elizabeth) Sarah Taylor, daughter of (--?--) Taylor, on February 22, 1613/14 at Cranbrook, Kent, England.William was the Vicar of St. Dunstan’s Church 1591-1616. He died on Nov 23, 1616 at Cranbrook, Kent, England.
SAMUEL EDDY (born circa 1608) came to Plymouth on the ship "Handmaid" in 1630. SAMUEL was baptized on September 15, 1608. He married ELIZABETH SAVERY, daughter of Thomas Savery and Margaret Woodrorke, in 1630 at England. ELIZABETH died May 24, 1689. SAMUEL died on November 12, 1687 at Swansea, Bristol, Massachusetts.
OBADIAH EDDY was born circa 1645 at Plymouth, Massachusetts. He married BENNETT ELLIS, daughter of John Ellis and Elizabeth Freeman, circa 1668 at USA. He died in 1727 at Plymouth, Massachusetts. Children of OBADIAH EDDY and BENNETT ELLIS were as follows:
JABEZ EDDY was born circa 1680. He died about 1763 or 1773 at USA. He married MARY RICKARD, daughter of Deacon John Rickard and Mary Snow, at USA. Children of JABEZ EDDY and MARY RICKARD were all born at Plympton, Massachusetts.
JABEZ EDDY was born on April 14, 1700 at Plympton, Massachusetts. He married PATIENCE PRATT on October 16, 1729 in the USA. He married ELIZABETH JACKSON on November 21, 1755 at Dartmouth, Massachusetts. He died circa 1793.
JOHN EDDY was born on November 26, 1733 at Middleboro, Massachusetts. He married RUTH HAYFORD on December 6, 1757 in the USA. He married JOANNA HACKETT, daughter of Samuel Hackett and Joanna Washburn, in December 1785 at New Salem, Massachusetts. He died on March 24, 1806 at New Salem, Massachusetts. He was 72.
JACOB was born at Middleboro, Massachusetts. He married SARAH CLARK, daughter of Joel Clark and Hannah, on November 15,1790 at Deerfield, Massachusetts. JACOB and SARAH's children are as follows:
JACOB EDDY was born on January 23, 1796 in Deerfield, Massachusetts. He migrated to New Albany, Pennsylvania from New Salem, Massachusetts. JACOB married SARAH NICHOLS, daughter of John Nichols and Margaret Potter. SARAH died in 1868. JACOB passed away on March 4, 1873. JACOB and SARAH are supposed to be buried in the Hatch Hill Cemetery, just outside of New Albany.
ROBERT EDDY married JULIA HENSON. ROBERT enlisted on November 10, 1861, in Towanda, Pennsylvania. He was in Company G, 57th Pennsylvania Infantry. ROBERT died in Columbia College Hospital, Washington, DC, on December 31, 1861. ROBERT is buried in the National Military Asylum Cemetery. This was during the Civil War. ROBERT and JULIA's children were:
ROBERT ORLANDO married OLIVE ALLEN. ROBERT was born in 1855 and died October 31, 1904. OLIVE was born in 1863 and died on November 4, 1904. ROBERT ORLANDO and OLIVE ALLEN had one son:
ALEC LAMONT EDDY(9/22/1881-2/28/1965)and DAISY BELL MYERS(6/15/1891-4/11/1990) were married in January of 1906. ALEC and DAISY moved from Mehoopany to Barclay Mountain in 1910. From there they moved to Laquin. ALEC and DAISY were instrumental in the organization of the Laquin reunions for over 30 years.
In 1924 ALEC and DAISY moved to Towanda, PA. ALEC was very well known for his playing and management of the Towanda Baseball team. All of the boys all played on the team as well. ALEC also owned and operated the Durant Automobile Agency in Towanda. Besides REX, they had two other sons and a daughter. The daughter is buried in the Barclay Cemetery. ALEC and DAISY are buried in the Wysox Cemetery. There was also Lloyd Delmont Eddy (2/13/1909-12/4/1992) and Glenn Robert Eddy (9/27/1911-12/22/1969).
Glenn Robert Eddy was the middle son. He married Margaret and they had two children, Ronald and Linda. Ronald married Gayle Shrimp and they had two children, David and Leslie. David married Danna Jean O'Reilly and lives in Maine. Leslie lives in West Chester, PA. Leslie is a graduate of Towanda High School, Towanda, PA, and West Chester University. She is pusuing her post-graduate degree at Immaculata College in Malvern, PA. She is employed as a psychotherapist with Human Services in Downingtown, PA. Leslie is engaged to Robert Santise and they are planning an October 2000 wedding. Robert is a graduate of ST. Joseph's High School, Montvale, NJ, and West Chester University. He is employed as an integration engineer with First Consulting Group in Wayne, PA. Ronnie and Gayle later divorced. Linda married Rich Casey and they have two children.
Lloyd Delmont Eddy was the oldest. Lloyd began his schooling at Monroeton, PA, where his early school teachers noted his high abilities in writing classes.
Lloyd's first job was working for Ed Jones' Grocery Store for 10 cents an hour. He later worked for Shear and Sharping Shoe Store. After graduation from Towanda High School he worked with his father in the car business.
On November 11, 1937, Lloyd married Alberta Granger at the Towanda Episcopal Church. They moved to Corning, NY, where their son Duane was born in 1938. Duane is a famous guitar player, "Mr. Twang" himself. He has made many recordings, won an emmy, is on TNN, and is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio.
Lloyd worked for the CoBaCo Bread Co., delivering to the surrounding towns. Elaine was born in 1940. The family moved to Bath, NY, birthplace of their son Glenn in 1943.
Lloyd and Alberta ran a family grocery store for two years in Guyanoga, NY, in the Finger Lakes region, where he pursued a liflong desire to be a writer. The quiet beauty of the area provided him with a great source of inspiration.
In 1951, the family moved to Arizona, where Lloyd worked as the store manager for the Safeway and El Rancho Market Chains until his retirement in 1971. After retiring he continued to pursue his writing, eventually to have several articles published in national magazines. Lloyd never regretted the move West, but a part of his heart always stayed in Towanda.
